Wisconsin permit and driver-license fees

Wisconsin DMV publishes statewide Class D fees. Online knowledge testing for eligible teens has a separate $10 fee per attempt, while in-person knowledge and signs tests are free.

Instruction permit fee

The Class D instruction permit is $35 and is valid for 18 months.

Knowledge and skills-test charges differ

In-person knowledge and signs tests are $0. The Class D skills exam is $15. The optional teen online knowledge test is $10 per attempt.

First license fees

The current fee table lists the original probationary Class D license at $28 and the regular eight-year Class D license at $42.50.
