First Florida driver license for adults
An adult getting a first Florida driver license still has to prove identity and eligibility and complete the examinations that apply to an original Class E applicant. Being 18 or older removes the minor consent and graduated-license age rules, but it does not turn the first-license process into an automatic issue.

The adult first-license route
Florida law says an original driver license is issued after the applicant passes the required examinations and presents a qualifying application, unless a statutory waiver applies. For a first-time Class E applicant, plan around document verification, the knowledge exam, vision/hearing screening and the driving-skills stage.
A valid license surrendered from certain other jurisdictions can change the examination route, so a new Florida resident with an existing license should use the transfer rules instead of this first-driver guide.
Prepare the paperwork and the test separately
Use the Florida document checklist for identity, Social Security and residential-address evidence. Then study the state handbook for the Class E knowledge exam rather than relying on a generic national quiz.
