Utah written knowledge test
Utah's written knowledge test covers state traffic law and safe-driving material from the Driver Handbook. The state publishes the passing percentage rather than a fixed question total in the current handbook.

The current handbook sets the written-test passing level at 80% or better.
The fee covers up to three attempts
Utah allows no more than three written-test attempts under one fee within the stated 12-month window.
First-time license applicants have another exam
The separate online Traffic Safety and Trends Exam must be completed at 100% before the first regular Class D license.
