Ohio's operator knowledge test has 40 multiple-choice questions on motor-vehicle regulations and traffic signs. You must answer 75% correctly — 30 out of 40 — to pass.

The BMV test asks 40 multiple-choice questions about motor-vehicle regulations and traffic signs. A score of at least 75% means at least 30 correct answers.
Text and audio are offered in multiple languages
Ohio lists Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Haitian Creole, Japanese, Russian, Somali and Spanish in text and audio, plus American Sign Language in text/video. Interpreter-supported testing may be scheduled for another language at a driver exam station.
Failed tests have a 24-hour wait
After a failed knowledge test, BMV requires at least a 24-hour wait. In-person knowledge testing has no stated attempt limit; online knowledge testing is limited to two attempts in a six-month period.
