Use the current Ohio BMV Digest
Ohio BMV links the Digest of Ohio Motor Vehicle Laws from its driver-license page and tells applicants to study it before attempting the knowledge test. Use the current BMV source instead of an old third-party copy when a rule, number or procedure matters.
What to study first
- Traffic signs, signals and pavement markings.
- Right-of-way, intersections, turns and lane use.
- Speed, following distance, stopping and defensive driving.
- Impaired and distracted driving, seat belts and sharing the road.
- Ohio permit restrictions and age-specific licensing requirements.
Pair the Digest with the official sample test
Ohio BMV provides a Sample Driver License Knowledge Test alongside its study material. Use the sample after reading the relevant Digest sections, then return to the manual for any rule you miss.
