Learn signs by function

  • Regulatory signs tell you what is required or prohibited.
  • Warning signs identify hazards and changing road conditions.
  • Guide and service signs help with routes, destinations and facilities.
  • Work-zone signs identify temporary construction controls.

Know the driving response, not just the name

For each sign or signal, connect the visual cue with the action: stop, yield, slow down, merge, keep out of a lane, change direction or prepare for a hazard.

Mix signs into full test preparation

Do not study signs only as flashcards. Alternate sign review with right-of-way, intersections, parking, speed and defensive-driving questions so recognition works in context.
