Michigan driving skills test
Michigan driving skills tests are administered by independent testing businesses approved by the Department of State. The test includes a vehicle inspection, a basic control skills test and an on-road driving test.

Three test components
- Inspection of the vehicle used for the test.

Adult eligibility
A first-time adult must have practiced with a TIP for at least 30 days before taking the driving skills test.
Teen eligibility
A teen must complete Segment 2, hold Level 1 for the required period, log at least 50 supervised hours including 10 at night and meet the current violation/crash eligibility rules.
Ask the testing business about its fee
Michigan SOS does not regulate ordinary driver-testing-business fees. Ask about testing, retest, no-show and refund charges before scheduling.
