Michigan locations
Michigan driver license office and test locations
Michigan uses two location systems in the first-license process: Secretary of State offices handle licensing, identity and knowledge-test transactions, while approved independent driver testing businesses administer the driving skills test.

Secretary of State offices
Schedule an office visit for the first-license transaction. Michigan recommends appointments, and the scheduler provides the office address and preparation details.
Driver testing businesses
Use the official Driver Testing Business search for the skills test. Michigan SOS contracts with independent organizations and does not administer the ordinary skills test itself.
Check hours before travel
SOS publishes general office hours but notes that some locations have different schedules or lunch closures. Confirm the selected office in the scheduling system.
