Use the current MVA manual as the source of truth

The Maryland Driver's Manual covers licensing, traffic laws, road signs, safe-driving practices, sharing the road, impaired and distracted driving, and the testing process.

Maryland publishes the manual in many languages, so you can study the rules in a language you understand while still learning the English terms you will see on signs and roads.

What to study first

  • Road signs, signals and pavement markings.
  • Right-of-way, intersections, turns, lane use and passing.
  • Safe following distance, speed control and stopping.
  • Alcohol, drugs, distracted driving and hands-free laws.
  • Sharing the road with bicycles, pedestrians, motorcycles and larger vehicles.

Use the official Maryland Online Driver Test Tutorial
