Indiana BMV knowledge-exam format
Indiana's multiple-choice knowledge exam has two components: traffic maneuvers and traffic signs. You must score at least 80% on each section to pass.
- 2 sectionsmaneuvers + signs
- 80% eachpassing threshold
- 180 dayspassing result validity
Both sections must pass
A strong score in one section does not offset a weak score in the other. Indiana requires 80% or higher in each component.
Passing result is valid for 180 days
Complete the permit transaction while the passing knowledge result is still valid.
Failed knowledge test: wait until next business day
BMV requires a wait until the next business day before another knowledge-exam attempt.
