Minnesota fee guide
Minnesota permit and testing fees
Minnesota sets driver-service fees by law and updates them over time. Use the official fee schedule for the current Class D instruction-permit amount and remember that repeated tests or missed appointments can add charges.
- Permit feecheck current DVS schedule
- 3rd+ written testfee after two failures
- No-showseparate exam fee
Check the current permit fee
The DVS fee schedule lists the Class D instruction-permit charge and renewal fee. Because fee schedules can change, use the current state source before paying.
Repeated test fees can apply
The first two written and road-test failures are treated differently from third and later attempts under Minnesota's testing-fee rules.
Late-cancellation and no-show charges
Minnesota increased exam late-cancellation and no-show fees effective in 2025, so reschedule early if needed.
