Kentucky teen learner-permit rules
Kentucky's Graduated Driver Licensing Program applies to original permits issued to drivers under 18 and creates a permit, intermediate and unrestricted-license progression.

Start at age 15
Teen applicants take the written and vision tests with KSP and obtain the permit through a Regional Office.
Complete supervised practice
Kentucky requires 60 supervised hours, including 10 at night, with an eligible licensed adult.
Intermediate-license eligibility
The teen must be at least 16 and hold the permit at least 180 days before the road skills test for the intermediate license.
