The test covers signs, pavement markings, Kansas laws and safe-driving practices from the handbook.

The test is not timed

Kansas says most applicants finish in roughly 15–20 minutes.

Four failed attempts trigger a longer reset

The handbook gives four opportunities; after a fourth failed attempt, the applicant waits six months from the most recent failure before restarting.
