Georgia document checklist
Documents for a Georgia permit or first driver license
Georgia issues REAL ID-compliant licenses and IDs. First-time applicants generally need original or certified identity documents, Social Security information, two Georgia-residency documents and lawful-status evidence when applicable.

- 2Georgia residency documents
- SSNentered and verified
Identity and lawful status
Georgia's REAL ID process asks for one qualifying identity document such as a certified birth certificate, valid U.S. passport, naturalization certificate or permanent-resident card. Non-citizens must provide documents supporting identity and lawful status.
Social Security number
Enter your full Social Security number on the License/ID/Permit Form. DDS verifies it electronically and may require an acceptable SSN document if verification fails.
Two Georgia residency documents
Bring two documents from separate qualifying sources showing your name and current Georgia residential address. P.O. boxes do not establish residency.
