The Class E base fee

Florida Statutes section 322.21 sets the original Class E driver-license fee at $48. The same section sets the regular Class E renewal or extension fee at $48 and the replacement-license fee at $25.

Those are state statutory amounts. They are not a promise that every counter, county or transaction will have exactly the same final checkout total.

Why the amount you pay can be higher

Many Florida driver-license transactions are handled by county tax collectors. Florida law permits service charges for certain transactions, and local offices can have their own payment methods. Always check the exact office before an appointment.

Budget for the whole licensing process

The driver-license fee is only one possible cost. Depending on your route, you may also pay for required education, a third-party test or other services. Keep the state fee separate from private-course or testing charges when you compare prices.
