Ages 16–17 may receive a provisional license after at least six months with the permit, the required clean record and a passed road test.

Complete the required supervised practice

Drivers age 16–17 can move to a provisional license after holding an instruction permit at least six months, maintaining the required clean record and passing the road test. The state manual describes 40 hours of supervised practice including 10 hours in challenging conditions such as night or inclement weather.
