Texas DPS says in-office driver-license and ID services are handled by scheduled appointment. Use the Texas Scheduler, and check online options first because some transactions do not need an office visit.

Use the Texas Scheduler
DPS routes driver-license office appointments through the Texas Scheduler. If your local office has no available time, DPS recommends checking another location or looking again later for cancellations and limited same-day openings.
The scheduler can also tell an existing customer when a transaction is eligible for an online service instead of an office visit.
How far ahead can you book?
DPS says general driver-license office appointments can be scheduled up to six months ahead. It also publishes arrival and lateness guidance, so check the confirmation rather than treating the appointment time as flexible.
Driving tests use the same appointment ecosystem
Road tests also use the Texas Scheduler, but you must first have the applicant record and licensing steps needed for the driving test. Road-test appointments have their own preparation checklist.
