The Rhode Island road test follows the learner-permit stage. Eligibility timing, practice and required documents depend on age.

Rhode Island requires the Limited Instruction Permit to be held at least six months before the first scheduled road test, subject to age rules.
18+: at least 30 days
Adults must hold the learner permit for at least 30 days before the first road test.
