New Hampshire does not issue an ordinary learner permit. Practice driving may begin at 15½ only under the state's supervision rules.

Complete the required testing

The automated New Hampshire knowledge test has 40 multiple-choice questions and a 40-minute time limit. The test ends after more than eight incorrect answers, so a passing result requires at least 32 correct answers.

Follow the legal practice rules

Drivers age 16–17 must complete approved driver education: 30 classroom hours, 10 hours driving with a certified instructor and 6 hours observation, plus 40 additional supervised hours including 10 at night.
