Adult first-time drivers use the same BMV permit and exam framework, while the extra youth requirements change by age.

Prepare the required documents, complete vision screening and pass the knowledge test.
Ages 18–20 still follow the under-21 practice rules
The six-month permit period and 70 supervised hours, including 10 at night, apply to permit holders under 21.
